Corporate bond markets in the US, the UK and the euro-zone have started 2020 on a strong footing, largely reflecting expectations that monetary policy there will remain accommodative for the foreseeable future. While we agree with investors that central banks will keep their policy settings unchanged this year, or even ease further, we doubt that corporate bonds will make as large gains as in 2019.
