March’s advanced economy PMIs painted a positive picture, with headline indices typically now well into expansionary territory. Supply shortages are boosting prices and constraining output to some extent, especially in the US. And the euro-zone PMI is likely to fall next month as new restrictions take effect. But the widespread increase in employment indices is an encouraging sign that firms are hiring again.
