Data this week provided yet more evidence that the lockdowns in place across the euro-zone have caused economic activity to collapse, forcing firms to lay off millions of workers across the region at least temporarily. And worse is likely to come, with GDP set to plunge in Q2. Amid all of this, euro-zone leaders are inching towards providing some limited region-wide fiscal support, but only on a very modest scale.
