ECB needs to act decisively

The UK’s surprise vote to leave the European Union has put more pressure on the European Central Bank to provide additional policy support. We now expect an acceleration in the pace of the ECB’s asset purchases and perhaps another small cut in interest rates. Depending on the extent of market pressures, the ECB may even implement its long-awaited OMT programme.
