Bumpy path ahead for Turkish retail yields

Yesterday’s Q2 GDP data from Turkey suggest that retail occupier demand in Istanbul and Ankara is currently pretty strong. Against this backdrop, we think retail yields in both markets could fall substantially by end-2014. If we are right that consumer spending growth is going to slow over the next 18 months, however, some of those falls are likely to be reversed from 2015 onwards.
