Lower demand from refineries is the primary reason for another unexpected rise in commercial crude stocks. This exaggerated today’s fall in prices, which had already been dragged down by weak economic data. Looking ahead, we expect the US economy to slow sharply and think that this will lead to crude stocks increasing over and above seasonal norms.
