While the high numbers of COVID-19 cases will drag on the recovery in many in EMs in Q2, there are – at least outside India – encouraging signs that the worst of the current waves may be over in most places. But so long as vaccine coverage remains low, fresh outbreaks and the risk of new more transmissible variants will remain a dark cloud over the outlook.
