Preliminary data showing that Poland’s economy grew by 2.0% in 2012 masks a slump in domestic demand towards the end of last year that has seen household spending growth drop to its slowest rate since the early 1990s. This strengthens the case for further policy easing – starting with another 25bps cut in interest rates next week.
