We think that the near-term outlook for consumer spending in Poland is bright. A further acceleration in wage growth – together with loose fiscal policy and record-high consumer confidence – should mean that consumer spending rises at a faster pace this year than last. But this is unsustainable and higher inflation and interest rates are likely to take the steam out of household spending from 2019 onwards.
