There were few positives in September’s batch of Russian activity data as the contraction in retail sales deepened and the recovery in the manufacturing sector stalled. The rise in virus cases and tightening of containment measures means that the recovery is likely to grind to a halt in Q4 and, with fiscal stimulus limited, the economic recovery will remain sluggish in 2021 and beyond.
