Asia’s currencies have fallen sharply against the US dollar this month and we expect the downward pressure to continue in the near term. However, once the global financial situation starts to stabilise and risk appetite recovers, Asia’s currencies look well-placed to benefit. The upshot is that we expect most currencies in the region to end next year stronger than where they are now.
