Malaysian GDP figures, due to be released on Thursday, are likely to show a sharp slowdown in the recovery in the final quarter of last year. The recovery is likely to go into reverse this quarter.
Meanwhile, Asian equity markets have enjoyed a very strong start to the year, prompting us to upgrade our forecasts. But while we think further gains are still likely, Asian equities look set to underperform those in other emerging markets over the remainder of 2021.
