Weak global trade held back growth across most of Asia last year. But strong domestic demand helped much of South East Asia outperform. Not only did Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia grow faster than others in Asia, they also comfortably beat their own average growth rates for the last ten years. In this Weekly we look at the reasons for their outperformance, and assess the chances of it continuing in 2013.
