Should we be worried by China’s awful PMI?

Today’s sub-50 reading for China’s official PMI implies that the manufacturing sector is in outright decline. Some are suggesting this might be enough for policymakers to reconsider their stance on currency appreciation. But today’s reading probably reveals more about the weaknesses of the PMI survey than it does about the outlook for Chinese industry.
