Investment grade looks close for Indonesia

The consensus expects that Indonesia will achieve investment grade over the next one-to-three years but we believe that an upgrade by one of the three major ratings agencies will probably happen over the next 12 months. The markets have been positioning for an upgrade for some time and there looks to be little room for foreign debt spreads to tighten further. But Jakarta stocks likely have more upside and we also expect that the rupiah appreciation trend will continue.
