Improving economy means further rate cuts in Taiwan unlikely

The decision by Taiwan’s central bank (CBC) to keep its policy rate on hold today at 1.375% came as no surprise given the recent rebound in the economy. With inflationary pressures still very weak, we expect the central bank will keep rates low for some time to come, but we have taken out the hike we originally had pencilled in for the second half of the year.
