Commodities weather global market turmoil relatively well

For most of the last few months the headlines have been dominated by the rout in commodity prices. More recently, the focus has understandably shifted to the bear markets in equities. Nonetheless, the relative stability of industrial commodity prices (especially metals) over the last few weeks is still noteworthy – and reassuring. However, the rally in the gold price may soon run out of steam.
