China's commodity imports flattered by timing of New Year

The value of China’s commodity imports rose y/y in January at their fastest rate since October but this may well have been due to the distortions caused by the timing of the lunar New Year as much as any recovery in underlying demand. What’s more, commodity imports are still growing more slowly than overall trade.
