China’s trade surplus in July rebounded to a record high on the back of strong export demand and a fall in import growth. With export demand set to remain strong as the global recovery gains momentum, we expect the trade surplus to remain large. This should add to upward pressures on the renminbi, which has recently been allowed to appreciate.
