Although the economy might only be suffering the mildest of recessions, the bigger and far more important point often lost in the debate is that the economy is clearly underperforming its growth potential by a very wide margin. Unfortunately, with oil prices tumbling again and businesses failing to exploit the much weaker Canadian dollar, hopes of a meaningful rebound don't look promising.
