The fragility of the global economic recovery, as we have long forewarned, has resurfaced and signs point to a material slowdown in global growth and commodity prices. Unfortunately, the global slowdown comes at a most awkward time for Canada's manufacturers. Not only are they dependent on foreign demand to support jobs in the large export sector, but signs of cautious business investment and a housing market correction are worrisome for domestic sales as well.
