Alongside its decision to raise the key policy rate from 1.25% to 1.50%, the Bank of Canada maintained a fairly hawkish tone in its policy statement. While this suggests that the Bank intends to raise interest rate further in 2018, we suspect that it will remain on the side lines for the remainder of the year.
