The Bank of Canada won’t worry too much about March’s small drop in employment following previous strong gains and will be more encouraged by the fact that wage growth rose to seven-month high. Nevertheless, wage growth is still low by recent standards and there’s nothing in March’s release to suggest that the Bank will put rate hikes back on the table any time soon.
