The Reserve Bank of New Zealand will undoubtedly keep rates on hold at 1.75% at its meeting on Thursday 9th February, but in the accompanying Monetary Policy Statement we suspect it will revise up its inflation projections. That said, while the financial markets have priced in the chance of up to two rate hikes this year, we believe rates will stay on hold this year and probably next year too.
