The Fed cuts, commodity prices rise but it won’t last

The Fed’s decision to cut interest rates by 50 bp gave most commodity prices a boost this week. We suspect that lower interest rates won’t have a sizeable impact on US commodity demand this quarter and, next year, prices are more likely to be driven by the outlook for demand in China.
