Strong house price gains in Western cities such as Seattle, San Francisco and Denver have pushed prices significantly above their previous highs seen just prior to the crash of the mid-2000s. However, the cause of the run-up in values this time around, very tight market conditions due to strong income growth and a muted supply response, argues against a sharp correction in values over the next couple of years.
