Despite stable interest rates, demand for home purchase mortgages dropped back in October, and had reached a two-month low by the end of the month. Concerns around the economic outlook, a shortage of inventory and tighter credit conditions are all acting to supress home demand. And, with mortgage rates set to rise gradually over the next year, demand is unlikely to increase from here.
