Issues with seasonal adjustment over the Thanksgiving holiday, when many more people stayed home and perhaps applied for a mortgage, led to a spike in home purchase mortgage applications in the final week of November. But looking through that volatility, home demand has been stable since the middle of June even as mortgage interest rates have continued to fall. We doubt rates will fall much further and coupled with tight inventory and affordability constraints, home purchase demand is set to ease over the coming months.
