Mortgage applications for home purchase dropped back over the last two weeks of June, even as mortgage rates fell to record lows. The pent-up demand from the spring buying season now looks to have worked itself through, and tighter credit conditions and a lack of inventory may be dissuading some buyers from putting in an application. We now expect demand will settle back to where it was just prior to the arrival of the coronavirus.
