The fifth warmest January on record meant housing starts only reversed some of their December surge, with single-family starts remaining above 1 million annualised. That impact will unwind over the next couple of months, but the outlook for single-family starts over the rest of 2020 is positive. Record low existing home inventory will boost new home demand and support a steady rise in starts over the year.
