Existing home sales fell for a second consecutive month in January, leaving them 5% lower than at the start of last year. The good news is that there was a marginal pick up in the number of existing homes available for sale. But with that improvement coming off such a low base and mortgage rates rising, today’s data do not change the subdued outlook for existing home sales.
