According to the Case-Shiller index, house price growth continued to slow in June. The rise of 6.2% y/y was the smallest annual gain since November 2017. The recent moderation in mortgage applications for home purchase suggests growth will slow further over the second half of the year although, with market conditions still very tight, the prospect of a drop in national house prices is remote.
