Industrial Production (Aug.)

The more modest 0.2% m/m gain in manufacturing output in August provides further evidence that the appreciation of the dollar over the past six months is now beginning to weigh more heavily on output in the factory sector. With the consumer sector still firing on all cylinders, however, that will not be enough to stop the Fed continuing to raise interest rates gradually, including at its next meeting later this month.
