Today’s RICS construction survey again showed divergent trends, with declines in public sector activity in Q3 broadly offset by growth in the private sector. But in turn, the latter depended solely on continued – but slower – growth in commercial property construction. Looking ahead, given that credit remains hard to get and the economic outlook is weak, construction activity is more likely to fall than rise.
