Extremely cold weather in March saw the CIPS/Markit Construction PMI plunge to its lowest level since July 2016. But with employment and future business expectations rising, there are good reasons to think that construction activity will strengthen in the months ahead. However, absent a dramatic turnaround in overall activity, property rental growth is still likely to soften this year.
