The economy grew surprisingly strongly in Q2. Indeed, the pace of expansion, at 1.1%q/q, was double the consensus expectation. Manufacturing, financial & business services and distributive trades (e.g. retailing) all contributed to growth in Q2. However, as the tightening in fiscal policy begins to bite, we doubt that growth will get anywhere near to that rate again in the coming quarters.
