June’s manufacturing PMIs from Latin America were the proverbial mixed bag. The good news is that the pace of contraction in Brazil’s manufacturing sector seems to be easing. More ominously, the PMI in Mexico fell to a 12-month low. With the business surveys in the US now showing clear signs of improvement, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to blame weakness in Mexico on a soft patch north of the border.
