Tankan likely to indicate recovery gathering pace

The main factors behind the partial recovery in Japanese equities in the last few days have been external, namely the fading of concerns about the outlook for US monetary policy and the risks of a prolonged credit squeeze in China. However, the mood has also been helped by the more positive tone of the latest economic data from Japan itself.
