If the global financial community was not already following the progress of “Abenomics” closely, Thursday’s slump in the Nikkei has certainly focused worldwide attention on what is happening in Japan. However, we think it would be quite wrong, or at least premature, to draw any firm conclusions about the future success of Abenomics either from the falls in equity prices or the jump in JGB yields.
