Dismal October data will fuel debate ahead of election

The publication of the main economic figures for October is likely to heavily influence the debate ahead of December’s elections. Dismal figures are expected, and will probably leave the main parties clamouring for additional fiscal stimulus to reignite the economy. However, public finances are in a dire state and the country must come to terms with the need to address this, rather than continue to focus on short term measures. Sadly, there doesn’t appear much chance this will happen.
