The slowdown in growth in the Q1 GDP data for India released today doesn’t quite tally with other evidence which has tended to suggest that growth stabilised or picked up last quarter. It is presumably linked to the disruption caused by demonetisation though and, in that light, the key point is that more recent data suggest that activity has since continued to recover.
