The recent stabilisation of the dollar against the euro – despite aggressive cuts in US interest rates and growing fears of a US recession – has encouraged speculation that the decline in the US currency has now run its course. However, we continue to expect the dollar to fall to a new record low of $1.50 against the euro in the coming months, before a stronger recovery takes root later in the year.
