Manufacturing recovery remains uneven

Preliminary manufacturing PMIs for July, released by Markit today, reveal that the slowdown in Chinese manufacturing is offsetting better news from the euro-zone, where activity may finally be stabilising. Meanwhile, the Markit manufacturing PMI for the US also rose this month, reinforcing the impression that the US economy has regained some momentum after a weaker second quarter.
