Singapore’s economy looks to have ended 2015 strongly, but we shouldn’t get too carried away. The advanced estimate is not a reliable guide to final GDP figures and, even if that were not the case, Singapore’s economy is very volatile, with strong quarters often followed by weak ones. While we think export conditions will improve in 2016, rising interest rates are likely to keep GDP growth sluggish.
