US equities may prove less resilient in renewed US-China spat

Equity markets have struggled to make much headway this week as the continued escalation of tensions between the US and China weighs on investors’ still-recovering confidence. While it is difficult to know how a renewed conflict would play out, unlike in 2018-19 we don’t think that US equities would necessarily hold up better than those elsewhere.
