The further drop in home sales last month confirms that the slowdown in trend sales that began around a year and a half ago has worsened. Unfortunately, prospective home buyers and sellers are now fighting against rising global interest rates, tougher mortgage rules and more restrictive provincial housing regulations. For these and other reasons, we don’t expect a meaningful rebound in home sales this year, not before a further drop in house prices.
