Higher US rates will be good for Australia & New Zealand

A faster rise in interest rates in the US than widely expected next year will provide a welcome boost to the economies of Australia and New Zealand by leading to a further depreciation of their currencies. This will especially be the case if, as we expect, further cuts in interest rates in Australia and New Zealand prevent their government bond yields from rising in line with US Treasury yields.
