Budget bounce in confidence will be short-lived

The bounce in consumer confidence in Australia triggered by the Budget will probably be temporary and won’t prompt households to flock to the shops. Even a Budget-related increase in business confidence is unlikely to translate into faster investment and job growth. So while the rises in sentiment may be good for the Treasurer, they might not make much difference to the economy.
