Consumer Confidence (Dec.)

The fall in consumer confidence to an eight-month low in December shows that households have been spooked by the decline in GDP in the third quarter. While confidence is still consistent with a decent rate of consumption growth, lower sentiment is not good for retailers with only 10 full shopping days to go before Christmas.
