Election won’t sway Bank’s decision

After losing its majority this week, the Liberal government will have to grant concessions to other parties to pass legalisation. The election result is unlikely to sway next week’s Bank of Canada decision. We expect the Bank to keep policy unchanged, but market pricing suggests that investors will be surprised if the Bank presents a dovish statement and cuts its growth forecasts as we expect.
